If you are a dog owner, then I'm sure there has been a time that your pup has had an upset tummy and/or diarrhea. No one likes to see their furry friend not feeling like themselves! Below is a quick and easy recipe for a bland diet to help ease your puppy's tummy troubles:
Picture
Ingredients
  • 1 cup plain white rice
  • 1 cup plain skinless/boneless chicken
  • 1 3/4 cup water
Instructions
  • Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
  • Chop the chicken into chunks or strips
  • Add rice and chopped chicken
  • Simmer on low until done.
  • Let cool and feed to your dog

For larger dogs, you can double the recipe. You can feed your pup this bland diet for up to 7 days. After the first couple of days, you can also choose to add a tablespoon of canned pumpkin puree or plain cottage cheese to each meal.

**If your pup has an upset tummy for several days, it is always best to contact your vet in case your pup needs some additional care; including anti-diarrhea medications. **

Picture
 Ingredients
  • 1 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup bananas
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (ensure the peanut butter doesn’t include the poisonous xylitol sweetener. No salt added is best. The one we use is literally nothing but peanuts.)
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen berries
  • 1/2 cup milk (plain, unsweetened almond or soy milk are safe substitutes for traditional cow’s milk)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (optional)
  • Doggie Paw Mold- you can get small paws for the smaller pups and big paws for the bigger furbabies.
Picture
Instructions
  1. In a blender or food processor, add yogurt, bananas, peanut butter and berries.
  2. Add the milk and honey.
  3. Pulse until well blended and liquefied.
  4. Pour mixture into your mold.
  5. Freeze for at least 2-3 hours.
  6. Pop your frozen dog treats out of the mold. Store in an airtight container or freezer bag. Keep frozen until ready to give your doggie a yummy treat! They store well in the freezer for around 4 weeks.

Meet Savannah! This sweet senior gal is staying with us from Canine Pet Rescue!

From Canine Pet Rescue's website:

Savannah was turned in to animal control after giving her entire life to her family. We will make sure her next home is a forever one ! She is about as perfect as they come. Sweet, rides good in the car, good with other older or calm dogs ( no puppies or anyone that wants to play too much), and even okay with SOME cats. Savannah just needs a loving home to spend her senior years. She is a bit overweight, so start your new exercise program now and you will have a walking buddy.
